Methane
The beef industry's carbon footprint is high due, in part, to the harmful emissions produced by cattle in the form of methane. Cattle produces methane by secreting gas from their digestion system. This methane is more harmful to the environment than car exhaust emissions. The image on the right shows how beef produces more methane than any other meat raised for mass consumption.

The graph on the right depicts how the methane produced by red meat has the highest green house gas emissions of all food products. It also shows how it is expected to increase over the next two hundred years. Both of these graphics are strong examples of how the methane produced by the beef industry is one of the largest contributors to harmful green house emissions. By lowering your beef intake, you can help reduce the harmful effects of methane on our environment.
